Gaming report - June 9, 2007                           Back to New Orleans Gamers Home Page

Roll Call: Ann, Michael, Michael Jr., Karl, Hilda, Don, Dorie, Greg, Leona, Tom and Star

On the table: Dead Man's Treasure, Tsuro, To Court the King, Winner's Circle, Loopin Louie, Shadows Over Camelot

Another great turn out with 11 players playing six games.

Dead Man's Treasure

Players: Star, Tom, Michael, Greg, Hilda

Star liked the look of this game so we set it up.  The game consist of five islands containing treasure chest.  Players take turns placing cards face down next to an island.  When a card is placed on an island where there is already a card the old card gets turned up.  At the end of the game the player with the highest set of cards on an island get the highest value treasure chest.  There are two pirates pawns, Ben Gunn who rewards a player at game end and Captain Flint steals the treasure from his final island.  The pawns move from an island when a card is turn up there.  When a pirate pawn reaches his home island the game is over.  It can also end when players run out of cards.

Our game ended when I caused Ben Gunn to move to his home island.  I control the island and was rewarded with 10 coins.  Alas I didn't have enough presence in the other island to accumulate enough coins to win.  Here are the scores:

Thomas 23 coins, Mike 20 coins, Greg 17 coins  , Star 10 coins,   Hilda 7 coins

Tsuro

Ann, Karl, Don, Dorie and Leona played the game of paths.  Ann was the last one standing in the first game of Tsuro and Leona won the second game.

Loopin Louie

A few players also toyed around with Loopin Louie but no scores were taken.

To Court the King

Players: Michael, Greg, Star, Thomas, Hilda

The object of  To Court the King is to get the kings ear by climbing the ladder of royalty.  You may start with a farmer who knows a guard who can get you an audience with noble man etc.  Players roll combinations of dice to collect nobles which grant player special powers on future rolls.  You may be granted an extra die, allowed a re-roll or allowed to add a number to a die.  to win the kings attention you must roll seven of a king.  There is on final round after getting 7 of a king with the best roll winning the game.

In our game I collected nobles who gave me lots of dice.  However, my luck was bad and with only two dice manipulators I was only able to take third place.  Hilda won the game with 9 fives just beating Greg's 8 sixes.

Shadows Over Camelot

Players: Michael jr - King Arthur, Michael - Sir Palamedes, Greg - Sir Gawain, Thomas - Sir Galahad, Star - Sir Tristan, Hilda - Sir Percival

The knights stayed in Camelot drawing card for their first action.  Thomas wanted Lancelot's Armor even though I warned him it would be difficult to get.  Greg started off for the Excalibur Quest.  The Picts started an invasion so the rest of us headed off to war.  As soon as the war was won we need to help on the Excalibur Quest.  Twice it was in danger of being lost forever.  I finally ended up with Excalibur and Thomas received Lancelot's Armor.  We Lost the black knight quest but defeated the Saxons.  We were close to wining the grail when the loss of another quest filled the table with swords.  Fortunately, most of the swords were white so we won the game.   There was a point when some of us thought Greg was the traitor but by the end of the game he had proven his loyalty.  There were no traitors in this game.
