Gaming report - July 21, 2006                            Back to New Orleans Gamers Home Page

Roll Call: Ann, Michael,  Karl, Hilda, Don, Dorie, Bob, Brenda, Jason, RJ, Robert, Greg, Leona, Starr, Tom, Thomas..

On the table: Walk the Dogs, Tutankhamen, Castle Keep, Take it Easy, Saboteur, Winner's Circle

This week our game night was hosted by my friends Bob and Brenda on the West Bank.  We had a large turn out, 16 gamers!

Tutankhamen

Players: Mike, Tomas, Karl, Jason, Don

I received this light game for my birthday so we were all unfamiliar with it. The object of this game is to be the first to get rid of your 14 by scoring tiles.  Tile score when the last one is removed from the board.  The higher scoring tiles are more plentiful.  You can move your pawn as far as you want to claim a tile but once you pass a tile you can't go back.  Collecting the most tiles in the set give you the points listed on the tile.  Collecting the second most tiles give you half the score list on the tile.  In our game Jason won by collecting the most purple mask.  I tried to challenge him too late in the game.

Here are the scores:

Jason     Tommy    Karl     Don    Greg    Mike

        -1              8          9        14          13       9

Walk the Dogs X 2

This game was on the table twice tonight.  Unfortunately I didn't get a report for the second session pictured below.  In the first session Leona collected 5 of the same breed in a row giving her the win.

Take it Easy

Four rounds were played by the players listed below.  .

Players:  Starr, Tom, Ann, Leona

In this game the scores are as follows:

Ann     Tom     Leona    Starr

612      533       513      489

Winner's Circle

This is another game I had received for my birthday.  My wife and had played this remake of Royal Turf before so we knew what we were getting.  This game differs from Royal Turf by including a wider variety of horses.  The horse miniatures are heaver but like in the original Royal Turf they kept the same hard to distinguish colors.  We used the original Royal Turf rules of hidden bets.

Players Mike, Don, Karl, Greg and Tommy

In the first race (pictured below) Busher got off to an early start and won with 3 bets on him.  Symie placed with two best and amazingly Alsab showed with zero bets.  This set up a 4 way tie at $250 with Greg in fifth at $150.

In the second race it was Whirlaway (5 bets) followed by Citation (2 bets) and Gallant Fox (3 bets).  Tied for first were Mike and Karl at $700.

The final race all stakes are double.  Zev (2bets) came in first, Count Fleet (4 bets) came in second and Gallorette (4 bets) followed  in third place.

Race Number    Mike,  Don,  Karl,  Greg,  Tommy

       1                  250     250    250    150      250

       2                  700     500    700    500      450

       3                 1800    500   1300   700    1750

Ticket to Ride

Players: Starr, Tom, Ann, Leona

Ann reported this game played fast.  Everyone had played before so this helped.

 Final Scores: Tom - 133, Starr - 101,  Leona - 99, Ann - 98

Saboteur

I didn't get a session report or score for this game.  I'm not even sure of all the players since in was played in the other room.

Castle Keep

Yet another game I received for my birthday.

Players:  RJ, Robert, Tommy and Karl

Tommy won this game when Jason decided to build up his castle wall rather than attacking Tommy.
