Gaming report - August 20, 2005 Back to New Orleans Gamers Home Page
A nice turn out of 14 players for this warm August night.
Roll Call: Bob, Brenda, Mike, Ann, RJ, Jason, Scott, Jan, Richard, Steve, Karl, Hilda, Judy & Eric
We were able to run three games at once. Six different games were played this evening, eight sessions in all. Here are the session reports:
|
Aquarius Judy and Eric arrived early so Ann and I joined them for a game of Aquarius. Verses of "Up Up and Away", "We all live in a Purple Submarine" and of course "Aquarius were sung when certain cards were played. I don't remember who won this round but it was played later that night by Jason, Scott, Brenda, Hilda and Karl.
Cosmic Encounters Players: Steve, Richard, Scott and Bob.
Steve brought this game to the table and everyone picked double powers. Sadly no notes were taken during this game.

Shadows Over Camelot Played by RJ, "King Arthur", Michael "Sir Persival", Brenda "Sir Gawain", Judy "Sir Kay", Eric "Sir Tristan". and Jason as "Sir Palamides I was the only veteran at this game so I went through a lengthy explanation of the rules and strategies. The knights of the round table started early working on the Grail Quest. The first quest won was the Pics. We started Excalibur but didn't complete it by the end of the game. We almost lost the Pics and Saxons later in the game but call for help from knights who were on other quest. Everyone seemed to be working together so we considered the possibility of no traitor in our seven player game. Sir Tristan won the grail and later used it to save his life. King Arthur noticed that Sir Gawain was drawing too many black cards so he was set to make an accusation. However while he was in the kitchen getting a snack, Sir Gawain secretly switched loyalty cards with him. When Arthur accused Gawain he was surprised to find Gawain loyal! Arthur soon learned of the deception and the true traitor was uncovered. At this point in the game we had enough white swords to win and siege engines were accumulating fast. The traitor almost won when we were up to 10 siege engines. At that point all quest except the Saxons were abandoned so knights could fight siege engines. We were able to get the siege engines under control and hand 8 white swords to 4 black at game end.
Game end: 5 knights fighting catapults, 9 catapults on the board, 8 white swords and 4 black swords.

Nuclear War Players: Steve, Bob, Ann, Scott, Karl & Hilda
Another oldie but goodie that Steve brought to the table. Scott was dealt the most population and was able to knock out Hilda, Karl and Bob before being taken out by Ann. Steve who started with a very small population stayed quiet until the end when he knock out Ann and won the game.
|
Guillotine Executioners: Bob, Brenda, Michael, RJ and Karl. I was able to collect some valuable heads in this game and accumulated quite a collection of action cards. Alas, I was seen as the biggest threat so my fellow executioners ganged up on me. Final Scores: Brenda 25, Michael 17, Karl 16, Bob 15, RJ 11.

City Scape Players: Michael, RJ, Jason, Brenda/Hilda Either Jason or RJ bought this game for only $10. A great price for the bits alone. We played only one round of this while waiting for the other group to finish. I don't remember who won this game but I lost badly only getting one column with the view I needed.
