Gaming report - October 29, 2005                            Back to New Orleans Gamers Home Page

Roll Call: Bob, Brenda, Mike, Ann, Jason, Scott, Tom and Paul

Five different games were played this evening.  We usually play Halloween games at this time of year.  We didn't have enough players for a game of Werewolf but we did manage to get a couple of Halloween games played.  Here are the session reports:

Sequence

Players: Team Ann and Scott, Team Brenda and Paul

This is not a Halloween game but my wife enjoys it.  We don't have detailed notes but Brenda and Paul won with two sequences to Ann and Scott's one.

Settlers of Catan

Players: Mike, Ann, Tom and Paul

We used the chit variant in this game.  If you didn't receive a resource card from the die roll you received a chit.  Chit's could purchase resource cards at the rate of your current victory points.  For example if you had two VPs it cost you two chits to buy a wood.  Paul and Tom compete for the longest road.  Paul was able to get the longest road and Tom was in the process of getting the largest army when Mike won the game.  My well placed cities with my sheep port really helped. I was lucky enough to have my only two resource cards be victory points.

Fearsome floors

Players: Mike, Bob, Jason, Tom and Paul

Finally a Halloween themed game.  Paul created the monster. I was the first victim.

Here is another picture of an early turn in the game.

Most players were able to out flank the monster.  We were all close to winning but Paul was able to take his turn first and get two of his characters off the board.

Magic Hill

Players: Ann, Brenda, Paul and Scott

Another game with a Halloween theme.  Well sort of.  The game does have goblins.  There were no notes taken but Brenda's goblin did make it to the top first for the win.

GOA

Players: Mike, Bob, Tom and Jason

This is one of my favorite games.  Tonight I was teaching it to three new players.  There are many ways to accumulate victory points in GOA.  Tonight I concentrated on the development board and it was all I needed for the win.  I though Jason might have had me because he was trying everything except the development board.  If we would not have counted development board points Jason would have had me by 15 points!  I won but it was a close game for having 3 new players.

  Here are the final scores:

                  Mike                  Bob                     Tom                  Jason
